Heartbeats
JimOut with the old and in with the new! New beginnings always add excitement to our lives. We are not really throwing out the old or the past. The older I get the more I like the Chinese custom of respecting their elders. I think there can be wisdom learned from life experiences. The reason that we tell a child not to touch a red-hot stove, apart from trying to keep a child from getting burned, is because we have touched a hot stove and we were burned. But the new brings vitality all of its own. A new thing can be a good thing. I believe that whether a new thing is a good thing or not is how we view and handle that new thing. We are in control of how we will be affected. (more)

Pastor's Points (Continued)
(Continued from top)

I want you to hang in with me for another minute. Consider that I am the old thing. In God’s timing, it is time for me to move on. Consider that Tim Thompson is the new thing. In God’s timing it is time for Tim to move in. Everything that I know about Tim is positive. I think that God has done a marvelous thing in giving the Bishop and the Cabinet inspiration in making this appointment! Tim has the qualities that will help this church be the church that it needs to be. Tim loves people (beware—he has a sense of humor); he is a gifted preacher and teacher.

When I was the pastor in Andalusia, I had Tim come and lead a spiritual gifts workshop. He was invaluable in helping people discover their spiritual gifts. The church still remembers him being there! Tim will discover your gifts and ask you to use them. What a wonderful future you have at Frazer. I am so excited for you and for the church.

And speaking of the old going out: let me thank you for the wonderful way that you received Laura and me. There was never a time that we did not feel loved by you. Frazer (you are Frazer) has been a blessing! We will watch and pray. Godspeed.

- Jim
