This Week At Frazer
March 22-28, 2009 - Frazer United Methodist Church - www.frazerumc.org

Pastor's Points
BarryI recently read the following description of those who are called into the ministry of pastoral care: “Out of the pool of the divinely rescued, God calls women and men into caring ministry. They are empowered to care for others because ‘they have been comforted in their troubles, by the God of all compassion, so they can comfort others in any trouble’” (2 Cor. 1:4). Frazer’s LifeCare Ministry Team is dedicated to providing care, compassion, comfort, encouragement and support to you and your family. I’d like to introduce you to some of the ministries and team members who provide LifeCare ministry for the members of the Frazer family. (more)

Pastor's Points (Continued)
(Continued from top)
Our team of visiting pastors includes Paul Sims, Tom Searcy, Roy Sublette and Rhon Carleton. They make daily hospital and pre-surgery visits as well as visiting our homebound, nursing home, and assisted living members. Please let LifeCare know if you or a family member is scheduled for surgery, is hospitalized, or would like a visiting pastor. Paul Sims makes weekly supportive contact with those who are still recuperating at home, and we have a dedicated group of volunteers who would love to provide additional care and support with the delivery of a warm, home cooked meal. Val Chambers and Jorie Welch, two newly assigned members of the LifeCare Team, provide administrative support to our pastors and volunteer teams.
Doug Lunsford coordinates our pre-marital program and works diligently to make sure that couples preparing for marriage are partnered with seasoned volunteer mentoring couples who can provide practical experience, Christian support and encouragement. Our Pastoral Assistant, Linda Best, assists families as they make funeral arrangements and plan services to celebrate the life of their loved ones. She also schedules baptisms and baptism orientation.
Another LifeCare ministry is our Prayer Ministry, under the direction of Jan Niel. Jan and her team are available to pray with you individually, receive your intercessory prayer requests, and also provide individual and corporate healing services.
Our Counseling Center is also a LifeCare connectional ministry. Dr. Don Hill and Kathy Bonds provide individual professional counseling, and Terri Sasser can provide assistance with appointments. Kathy Bonds also supervises our many support groups as well as Celebrate Recovery.
Our LifeCare Team includes many vital partnerships with lay caring teams and volunteers. Stephen Ministers provide weekly, confidential, one-to-one Christian care to members experiencing life’s difficulties such as grief, divorce, job loss and illness. Our Grief Support Group, led by Harold Faulker and a group of dedicated lay facilitators, is open to the community and meets every Tuesday evening at 5:30. Dementia Daycare provides an opportunity for essential respite care. Handicapable provides advocacy for those in the congregation facing physical challenges. Our Military Ministry provides support and encouragement to our military members and their families. The PAWS Ministry (Pets Are Working Saints) volunteers minister with their pets, visiting adults and children in nursing homes and residential facilities, and our Visitation Volunteers provide extra caring visits, flower arrangements and deliveries to our members who are homebound and in nursing homes.
I’m so privileged to lead this tremendous LifeCare Team. Caring for you and your family is our passion.

Rev, Susan L. Beeson
Coordinating Pastor, LifeCare
