The purpose of the Visitation Ministry is to serve those church members, family members of church members, and others who have come to our attention as needing to be visited that live in nursing homes, assisted living and independent living residences. This ministry consists of a Coordinator, two assistant Coordinators and volunteers.
Volunteer Responsibilities: We currently have 68 volunteers who are assigned to visit 61 homebound members, and 92 nursing home/assisted living residents. Most of our volunteers visit several of these people. Volunteers are asked to visit at least once a month and make a monthly report to their assigned coordinator. Assistant coordinators make a monthly report to the coordinator.
Time Spent Volunteering: The volunteers are asked to visit at least once monthly, but some visit more often. The average time per visit is anywhere from a few minutes to one hour...depending on the condition of the person being visited. Volunteer skills needed: 1. Ability to organize and delegate. 2. Ability to work well with people and be an encourager. Coordinators and volunteers should be people who love the Lord and have a love for the elderly. They must be willing to visit on a regular basis, pray, read, talk, do small deeds of kindness and show their love.
