Notes from Our Pastor
Image There are many things I don’t do very well and one of those things is sing. When I sing I tend to embarrass myself and everybody around me. However, that has never kept me from singing out in church. It’s biblical. The Bible teaches us to sing praises to God. It doesn’t say sing praises if you can carry a tune or sing as long as you can sing on key. It just says “sing praises to God.” Ephesians 5:19-20 says, “Sing songs from your heart to Christ. Sing praises over everything, any excuse for a song to God, the Father in the name of our Master, Jesus Christ.” (The Message) Singing praises to God will bring you close to God’s heart.

Church-Wide News & Events
SUNDAY NIGHT CHAPEL WORSHIP STARTS AUG. 1
image For some, Sunday night is a time to stay home and devote to family. But for others, it brings back wonderful memories of heartfelt singing, powerful prayer time, and fellowship around ice cream and watermelon. That’s why Frazer will offer Chapel Worship on Sundays at 6 p.m. starting Aug. 1. With preaching by various Frazer pastors and music led by Joe Pat Cox, Chapel Worship brings back a traditional gospel style worship for today.

DAY AWAY WITH GOD AUG. 14
image Spend a “Day Away with God” Saturday, Aug. 14 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Frazer. This day of prayer will help you develop intimacy with God by spending significant time alone with Him. This prayer experience is for beginners as well as seasoned intercessors. We will share tools to help you complete this extended prayer adventure. Childcare will be available with registration. Cost is $5 for materials. To register for the event and for childcare, call the Prayer Ministry office at 495-6350 or go to www.frazerumc.org/dawg

THE GATHERING MEETS AUG. 8
image If you are looking for a high-energy worship experience geared towards young adults, come to the Gathering next Sunday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. in the East Sanctuary. Bring a friend! Register for childcare for children age 3 and under by noon Wednesday, Aug. 4. Find us online and sign up for childcare at www.frazerumc.org/thegathering

CALLING ALL ARTISTS & WRITERS: BE IGNITED!
image As we prepare for this year’s In His Steps commitment campaign in the fall, we invite Frazer members with creative gifts to join with us in envisioning our theme of “Ignite.” Through Sept. 5, you can submit electronic versions of your original poetry, short stories, photography, paintings, drawings or other artwork that illustrates how the Holy Spirit ignites God’s people to love Christ passionately and serve Him powerfully in a dark world. A selection of these will be reproduced and published in a booklet to be made available at the church. Contact Communications Director Ken Roach at ken@frazerumc.org for more information or to submit your work.

HAVE YOU SPOTTED A MOVING VAN?
image When you see a new family moving into your neighborhood, why not take the opportunity to introduce yourself and invite them to church at Frazer? Cards and brochures are available in the Atrium to give out. Most people come to church because of a personal invitation; let’s be alert to ways we can share the love of Christ with new people.

LIFE TRANSFORMATION GROUPS
image Do you want to grow in your relationship with Christ? Do you need accountability in your life? Consider joining a Life Transformation Group. LTGs are a simple and powerful way to release the most essential elements (prayer, scripture reading, confession and accountability) of a vital spiritual Journey to people who need Jesus to change their lives from the inside out. Groups of two-three people meet weekly (no co-ed groups, no leader or curriculum). LTGs incorporate the values of community, internal life transformation and reproduction of disciples. For more information, call the Discipleship Office at 495-6391.

Notes from Our Pastor - Continued

I am glad that we do have a choir and a praise team that can sing on key and carry a tune. In fact, I’ve never experienced anything quite as powerful and uplifting as the music at Frazer. Whether in traditional worship or in contemporary worship, Sunday after Sunday the music causes me to walk away saying, “Wow, the presence of God was in that place today!” I want to thank Wayne Sigler and Jerrod Dorminey, all the instrumentalists, choir members and vocalists. Frazer is unbelievably blessed.

You can increase that blessing by using your musical talent by singing in the Sanctuary choir or in the Wesley Hall choir or playing in the band or in the traditional orchestra. Your talents and gifts are needed. I want to encourage you to get involved in the music ministry. Use your gifts for the glory of God. You will be blessed, and God will use you to be a blessing to others. Call Wayne Sigler at 495-6340, or Jerrod Dorminey at 495-6347. They would love to welcome you into the ministry of music at Frazer.
