Notes from Our Pastor
Image Confession: I used to watch the reality TV show Trading Spaces (OK, stop laughing!). Trading Spaces aired on TLC for eight years, depicting two neighbors trading houses and transforming one room in the other’s home with the help of a professional decorator. I am not sure why this show caught my attention, but I loved the concept! The idea of one neighbor trading their space with another, trusting that their home would be in good hands while one room received a total makeover, made for an interesting TV show.I always watched carefully the expressions of the neighbors when they reentered their home to look at the transformed room. Did they like it or not? Regardless, they were brave enough to trade spaces for a few days and enter into the unknown and uncomfortable.

Notes from Our Pastor - Continued

This Sunday, our focus is on prayer as we prepare for our “Day Away With God” (DAWG) on Saturday, Aug. 14. Prayer is a lot like learning to trade spaces in order to experience transformation. I have had many people ask me about knowing the will of God in their lives, and I can think of no better answer than to recommend that they develop a consistent prayer life. In order to do that, one must learn to trade space. We only have so many hours in the day, so I am not saying we need to add another thing to an already overscheduled, busy life. What I am saying is that if you desire to know God’s will for your life, you must be willing to trade some things that currently occupy your time. In other words, trading spaces is making space for God in order that He might rearrange a few things, or give you a total makeover. Whatever it is, God’s will ultimately transforms lives, but only after we make space for Him to do so. I hope you will mark your calendar and participate in our upcoming “DAWG” Day as we offer God some of our time in learning how to pray more effectively and powerfully. Want to know God’s will? Make space for Him!

This Sunday, we also welcome Dr. Karl Stegall (former Senior Minister of First United Methodist Church, Montgomery) to Frazer’s traditional worship services as our guest preacher. You will not want to miss this opportunity to hear from him. I consider Dr. Stegall my “spiritual father” in the ministry, and I am so honored that he will be with us in worship!
