Notes from Our Pastor
Have you ever heard of a ball hawk? A ball hawk is a person whose hobby and passion is going to a Major League baseball game. Not to watch the game, but to see how many baseballs they can accumulate. To ball hawks, any baseball that has been used by a big league team is a Holy Grail. It doesn’t matter whether they catch it, chase it down, scoop it off the field, or even if they beg a player, coach or an umpire to toss it to them—every ball is a victory.

Notes from Our Pastor - Continued
Thirty-two year old Zach Hample is a world-class ball hawk. He has gathered 4,569 baseballs. He will the wear the jersey of one team during batting practice and ask players to toss him a ball. When the other team comes out he will change to their jersey. He has learned how to say “Please throw me the ball,” in five different languages. There is a ball hawk league (countingbaseballs.mlblogs.com) where the members are ranked by their weekly and seasonal baseballs per game average. Zach Hample is in first place. He is a passionate pursuer of baseballs.
I have never thought of it this way but God is a people hawk. He is passionately and madly in love with you and me. When we get on the wrong road He passionately pursues us to get us back on the right road. When we get lost He goes looking for us, and won’t give up until He finds us. He is daily pursuing us, wanting to give us the best life possible on this earth and wanting to give us eternal life in heaven with Him.
I confess that I am a God hawk. Every day I am searching for more and more of God’s peace, God’s power, God’s love, God’s purpose, God’s joy, God’s strength, God’s wisdom and God’s hope in my life. Here is some good news. If you are a God hawk, if you are determined and passionate and persistent in finding God, you will find Him. That is a promise. Listen to Jeremiah 29:13, “When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” (Message)
