Notes from Our Pastor
Image In a graveyard by the historical Christ Episcopal Church on St. Simon’s Island, there is a stone marking an old grave, and the inscription reads, “My Beloved Wife, Died of Fever in 1865.” And beneath her name is a line of script, and it says this: “Ever she sought the best and ever she found it.” What a neat way to be remembered, as a person who always sought the highest and the best. What a great way to live your life. You tend to find what you are looking for. If you look for the best in other people, you’ll find it. If you look for the worst, you’ll find that, too. If you look for the best in your circumstances, you’ll find it; but if you look for the worst, you will find that, too. Life is just so much better when you focus on the best instead of the worst. I want to encourage you today to focus on the best in your husband, your wife, your brother or sister, teacher, students, those in your work place, your boss, or your employees. Your days will just be a whole lot better if you spend them focusing on the best.

HELP US COLLECT BEAUTY ITEMS FOR GIRLS IN NEED
Crave Student Ministry is working with The Passport, a non-profit organization, to raise awareness about global sex trafficking and the efforts of organizations to rescue and help victims through the recovery process. You can also help us by donating much needed health and beauty items to be given to these young women in need. Examples of items needed are skin care products, hair products, makeup, makeup brushes, mirrors, etc. For a complete list of items needed or to drop off your donations, please stop by the Crave Student Ministry office by Aug. 31.

FOOD PANTRY & HOMELESS HYGIENE KIT DONATIONS
Due to an increased demand for assistance with food, we are in desperate need of food items such as: 2 lb. bags of corn meal, grits, salt, oatmeal, Jell-o and pudding mixes, canned meats, chili, beef stew. Full and travel size personal care items are also needed. Look for donation carts on Sunday mornings. Donations can also be brought directly to the Community Ministries Office Monday-Thursday mornings.

Notes from Our Pastor - Continued

One of the ways to find the best that God has for your life is in community with other Christian believers. At Frazer, we believe that worshipping Jesus, serving Jesus and living the Jesus way will lead you to the very best in this life. We also believe that being connected to a Sunday School class or a prayer group or a Bible study group is crucial in your journey to discover God’s best for your life.

It’s amazing what happens to you when you get surrounded by people who love God, who care about you, who are studying God’s word with you, who are holding you accountable, who stand by you in the ups and downs of life, and who are honestly and passionately pursuing the best that God has for their lives and your life.

At Frazer, our goal is that every child, every youth and every adult will be involved in a Sunday School class, a Bible study, or a prayer group. Have you seen the Fall 2010 Connections? You can get a copy in the church office or at the Connection Point desk in the Atrium. Connections contains all of the classes, study groups and prayer groups that are going to be going on this fall. I want to encourage you to plug in – get connected. In fellowship, study, serving and caring you will find the best that God has for your life.
