Notes from Our Pastor
Image I learned something new this week. I have ridden in elevators, on escalators, in cable cars, gondolas, trams, roller coasters, and various other moving objects. But this week I rode in a funicular. Have you ever heard of a funicular? It was new to me. It is basically an inclined railway elevator. It is a glass enclosed tram powered by a series of pulleys that pull you along tracks up and down the mountain.

Notes from Our Pastor - Continued

I was at a meeting with other pastors of large United Methodist churches and with 30 United Methodist bishops in Park City, Utah. The hotel we were staying in was at the top of a small mountain. You were not allowed to drive up to the hotel. The only way up was by way of the funicular. It has the sensation of a slow moving roller coaster going straight up and coming straight down. It was fascinating.

It is always neat to learn something new. Every week at Frazer we have 1700-1800 people in Sunday School, learning something new about the Bible, about Jesus, about the love of God, and about what it means to follow Christ. Learning about the funicular was interesting, but learning about God is life-changing. Find a Sunday School class. Invite someone to Sunday School today.

--Dr. Tim Thompson

SUNDAY SCHOOL TESTIMONY:

This month, we will be sharing testimonies from people who have experienced life changing growth and transformation from being involved with a Sunday School class or small group. Read the following praise report from Gil Duenas, who was invited by his neighbors Shawn and Laurie Peterson to become a part of the LifeSong Sunday School class.

The Lord's Will placed me on a dramatic life journey four months ago that created a real need for me to pray. But the Lord's almighty power did not stop. With his right hand, He also arranged for my neighbors of nearly eight years to extend an invitation for me to attend a Bible study class, at Frazer Church with a group of very special people, named the Lifesongers. At first, I was very apprehensive about what the Lord wanted me to learn from this Bible study class and from the people in the group. I soon discovered that the group members openly talked about their life challenges and even more surprisingly praised You, Lord for the opportunity to endure that journey with unyielding faith and trust. Wow, I wondered silently, how had they gotten to this point of faith? How had these people stayed so focused on making each day a wonderful testimony to You, Lord?

Well, since having been invited to my first meeting, the Lord's almighty power has arranged for me to be a part of the Lifesongers-a group that not just reads Your Word but also strives to share Your Word, and then to apply Your scripture through fellowship and community service... The Lord had invited me to join this group of believers, like so many others at Frazer, who openly, enthusiastically accepted you, O Lord as our Savior. Oh my Lord, I am now so thankful for granting me this opportunity to celebrate and embrace Your Word. Clearly, you have not abandoned me. Lord, I give You all the praise for allowing me to join this Bible study class at Frazer.
