The Prison Ministry is a long-term outreach of Frazer. Volunteers from Frazer have been serving God in prison for more than 50 years. They conduct worship services and Bible studies in eight institutions in the Montgomery area. The focus of this ministry is leading inmates to changed lives and real freedom in Christ while they are incarcerated. We offer pre-release seminars to help inmates avoid pitfalls that increase chances of being returned to prison. Our goal is not to get them out of prison; however, when they are released we are there to provide them with guidance. Prison ministry does not just deal with the incarcerated. We also work with the court system’s diversion cases involving those who have been convicted of a crime, but for whom incarceration has been determined to be unnecessary by the court system. As always, life change is the goal.
We are also becoming involved in two new programs, Mentor Alabama and Faithful Friends, developed by the Alabama Attorney General's Office. All participants have background checks conducted by the AG’s office because of the intensity of these programs. Faithful Friends is a program in which children of inmates are mentored. Mentor Alabama is early intervention mentoring for at-risk children. Both programs are designed to show marginalized children new possibilities and directions. |
