ESL
The English as a Second Language program is an on-going, mission-based, community ministry for adults that meets at Frazer each Tuesday night since 2003.
Our program begins at 7:00 PM and is over at 8:45PM, meetin in rooms 3201- 3218. We offer free English classes, free child care for children 5 years old and younger, and a free snack supper for all adults who need to learn or want to improve their English skills. No pre-registrion is required, and there is no child care available for children over age 5. Books are not required, but are available to students at a minimal cost $20.00, if a student wishes to purchase one.
The largest numbers of our students are Hispanic, but we also have students from China, Egypt, France, Germany, Iraq, Korea, Laos, Russia, Vietnam and other countries. We have fifty volunteers and average about 65 students each week. We generally follow the schedule for Montgomery Public School calender for our holidays and summer break. We take new students each Tuesday night and registered over 183 students during the 2010--2011 school year. At the end of the year in May 2011, we had an active enrollment of 65 students. Our program offers 12 classes ranging from pre-beginning through advanced.
